The FBI has announced intensified interest in "spear phishing" investigations. These directed attacks, which usually involve malware sent through an e-mail which has been personalized to the target and sent "from:" a spoofed address familiar to the target. So far, approximately $100 million in losses have been reported to such schemes by small- and medium-sized businesses.
